One dozen roses! What a classic, right? This iconic bunch is given on birthdays & anniversaries; to say “I love you”, and to say “I’m sorry”. You can special order them delivered in tall extravagant arrangements; neatly arranged in a simple cube; or long-stemmed in an elegant box. You can easily spend a king’s ransom on these beauties by the dozen, or you can grab a $10 bunch while shopping at the grocery store. That is the fabulous thing about this floral icon – It can be anything you need it to be!
But unless that bundle of joy comes arranged in a vase, you have to decide what you are going to do with it. Will you make a short or tall arrangement? Make a centerpiece or place them in bud vases? Something romantic or cheerful? Are you feeling crafty? Oh, my, the possibilities are endless!
The Challenge : How Many Ways Can You Arrange One Dozen Roses?
Originally, this list of ideas was meant to be a creative exercise to get my flower brain “out of the vase”. What if all I had was one dozen roses? What could I do with them?
Challenge Rules :
Roses – any size, color, and combination
Maximum of 12 stems of roses
Arranging aides, such as floral foam and frogs
Greenery – foraged or store bought
Craft and cooking supplies
Any kind of vessel
Flowers other than roses
More than 12 stems of roses
Exotic flowers or greenery
I think I initially came up with 30 or so ideas. But then I thought it would be fun to do a one-dozen-roses arrangement every week. So, I challenged myself to come up with a total of 52 things to do with one dozen roses. The first few on the list were pretty standard arrangements, but as I went on I had to get more than a little creative. For this reason, crafts and cooking will be allowed for this challenge.
This mental exercise was super fun. But coming up with the list is the easy part, right? Now, I have to actually make all the ideas I’ve come up with. As new creations are made, I’ll post links to them on this post and they will have they’re own sub-category under Floral Recipes. Hopefully, that will make it easy for you to keep up with my progress. I hope you enjoy this challenge as much as I have!
